Journalism Internship Program
- Qualifications required:Journalist, pre –journalism students and People with the interest.

- Locations :Accra, Kumasi , Ho, Tamale, Cape Coast, Sunyani, Nkwakwa, Koforidua, Winneba
- Program duration:Starting from 1 week to 50 weeks, programs start on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month
- Language required: English :level ,basic ,intermediary and fluency
- Age: 15yrs to 50yrs Nationalities: Open to all nationalities
- Accommodation:Interns live in a separate room with any of our well trained host families near the Project.
- Program fees:Starting $275 USD First Week and $170 USD other weeks which includes airport pick-up, Program orientation and supervision, accommodation, utility bills, Local SIM card, Official RVO T-Shirt ,Transportation to Kumasi or to project and host family first day, Last day airport drop off, breakfast and dinner daily (Lunch out because volunteers are mostly at work during lunch hours) and 24/7 in-country support
- What Fees doesn’t include:Airfare from your home to Ghana, Entrance fee to tourist centers, Travelling Insurance, daily transportation to project site.

With its history as a developing country, Ghana is an important place to do your TV, radio and news paper Internship journalism. The Journalism programs we offer fall under Print or Newspaper Journalism, Radio Journalism and Television Journalism.
If you are already a working journalist or a student, this is a chance to broaden your horizon and enhance your resume with work experience in a different culture and society, or maybe a different medium.
Under the Ghana TV, radio and newspaper internship program, the intern engages in daily project activities.
In most cases, As an intern, you stay with host families who live near the project in which you are involved.
Most of the time, the director of the project will work to help you successfully complete your field report.

In order to get the most out of your internship position in Ghana, we recommends at least one week of language and culture immersion programs because many times, language difficulties hinder the effectiveness of interning. This program will provide you with a necessary, comprehensive start in exploring the every day issues of Ghana. Furthermore, it is possible to organize extra tutorials with experts in particular areas for additional fees. we suggests that you correspond with us if you have special needs for your internship.
With your airport pick-up, orientation, accommodation, meals and 24/7 in-country support all included in your program fee, you can leave home feeling confident that you’ll be well supported in your new home away from home. Plus, you’ll be in the company of like-minded international volunteers young as your age who shares your passion.
How long can I go on a Journalism Internship Program for ?
RVO runs volunteer programs year-round but Teaching Volunteer program starts from 1 week to 24 weeks so volunteers are to choose their own total duration of stay in the program. Programs start on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month
How do I apply for a Journalism program in Ghana ?
- Complete the free online application form with the details of your chosen program and dates, as well as details of your qualifications, skills and experience. You will then receive an email from RVO that we have received your application. Within 24 hours (1 working day), you will receive an email from our Programs Manager acknowledging your application and confirming, project and dates of your volunteer program. In this email, you will receive instructions on how to pay the deposit payment of the registration/program Fee in order to confirm your booking with the RVO
- As soon as your deposit payment of registration/program Fee has been received by RVO, you will be provided with all the information and support you need to prepare for your upcoming volunteer program. Your RVO Program Manager will be your point of contact throughout your preparations up until you finish your volunteer program.

Please Note: Most Radio, Television and newspaper agencies charges a fee before accepting interns into their company.
SUGGESTED ITINERARY:
Day 1: Travel to Ghana Kotoka International Airport in Accra, transfer to hotel and meeting to coordinate the day-to-day scheduling for the week.

Job Duties of Newspaper Journalists
Journalists work in newsrooms and in the field, observing, taking good notes, cultivating sources, analyzing events objectively and quickly writing accurate articles. Newspaper journalists may investigate issues to find the story behind the story, and they need to be well versed in the laws related to the framework for the press. Some newspaper journalists are given general assignments, special assignments or a regular beat to cover, while others focus on a specific category of news, such as politics, foreign affairs,sports or finances.
Job Duties of TV AND RADIO Broadcast Journalists
Broadcast journalists are responsible for investigating, gathering and reporting on news and current affairs.
They are expected to present this information in a fair, balanced and accurate way through news bulletins, documentaries and other factual programs for radio, television and online broadcast.
Broadcast journalists can fill a number of roles within the media including editor, reporter, presenter/news anchor, producer and correspondent.
Covering breaking and developing news, gathering facts, conducting interviews and writing clear and concise articles for publication. Curiosity and writing abilities are key traits for aspiring Newspaper Journalists.
All interns need to be flexible, communicate well, and work hard as internships are demanding and must be taken seriously. You will be representing a professional organization and you may sometimes have deadlines to meet. All interns would be working under supervision by the experts from the agency where interns works.
